The Grace of God

Bible Study

By Pastor Billy J. Jacobs

Gates of Praise Ministries, Inc.

Ephesians 2:8, “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God…”

Grace describes the undeserved kindness by which salvation is given, but it is also the power of God. Grace is the power of the Holy Spirit work in you. Grace is More Than Favor.

Romans 5:2, “We have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.”

1. We access by faith into this grace.

2. We stand by grace.

Traditionally, we have defined grace as God’s unmerited favor. Although this definition is true, it does not tell us what grace really is; it tells us only that it is free. Grace is more than just favor.

It is the ability of God’s working in man, making him able to do what he cannot do in his own ability.

You cannot save yourself. God’s saving grace saved you.

John 1:16-17, “And of his fullness have all we received and grace for grace. For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ.”

The Greek Word is : (CHARIS)

Grace is not God’s ability to overlook your sin; it is His ABILITY WORKING IN YOU TO DELIVER YOU FROM SIN.

Matthew 1:21, “And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name Jesus: for he shall save his people from their sins.”

Satan will try to get you out of God’s grace, and into the works of the law.

Galatians 2:21, “I do not frustrate the grace of God; for if righteousness comes by the law, then Christ is dead in vain.”

Grace is given as we keep our eyes on Jesus.

Read Galatians 3:1-5

The Ministry of Faith and Grace of God

Read Acts 4:20-33

Acts 4:33, “And with great power gave the apostles witness of the resurrection of the Lord Jesus: and great grace was upon them all.”

Paul and God’s grace.

1 Corinthians 15:10, “But by the grace of God I am what I am: and his grace which was bestowed upon me was not in vain; but I labored more abundantly than they all: yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me.”

The proud and the grace of God.

James 4:6, “But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble.”

Manifold Grace of God

1 Peter 4:10, “As every man hath received the gift, even so minister the same one to another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.”

The word manifold means:
Marked by diversity, or variety, many

GRACE IS NOT FOR MINISTRY, IT IS NOT GIVEN TO EXALT A MAN OR MINISTRY BUT TO EXALT JESUS.

Read Acts 3:12-13

The Throne of Grace

Hebrews 4:16 “ Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.

Grace--God’s ability working in your calling.

One of the simplest definitions of grace is ability. Grace is God’s ability working in you, helping you to do what you cannot do, in your own power.

Read Romans 12:6 & Ephesians 4:7

When God calls a person, there will be grace that will accompany the calling, enabling the person to fulfill the will of God in their life.

The grace of God has been released to the Church as a mighty power. Grace is a spiritual force that will enable you to do the will of the Father on earth.

Once you find out what your gift is (if you don’t already know), learn to draw on the strength of the grace that has been made available to you. Then it will not be long until you will begin to see the power of God manifest through your gift.

How to Stay in God’s Grace

Read James 4:6 & Hebrews 4:16

1 Corinthians 15:10, “By the grace of God I am what I am; and His grace which was bestowed upon me was not in vain; but I labored more abundantly than they all: yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me.”

To stay in this grace you have to stay in relationship with God and submit to His will.
