I know you want to be thin.
Looking your best is a thrill.
But let me tell you a story,
About how looks can kill.
An hourglass figure,
Through my years in school.
Guys admired the merchandise,
But I was the fool.
Because I became obsessed,
With being a perfect ten.
Every goal that I set,
Was shaped around being thin.
When the years added up,
And the pounds weighed in,
I felt unsuccessful, depressed,
And unattractive to men.
Failed at eating right.
And diets didn’t work.
So the body God gave me,
I began to hurt.
Eating everything in sight,
Then throwing it back up.
Exercising for hours,
But never losing enough.
Through some literature I found,
God began to speak.
You can damage your heart, baby,
And cause other organs to grow weak.
You’re losing your hair,
Because it’s not properly nourished.
You’ve let a trick of the enemy,
Prosper and flourish.
Use the Word to rebuke the devil,
And take control over food!
In the mighty name of Jesus,
It’s impossible to lose!
Satan’s out to devour,
And your life he will steal.
When you allow him to define beauty,
Your looks can kill!
I’m not a perfect size six,
And not even an eight.
But I’m fearfully, wonderfully,
And beautifully made!
It’s not the outer appearance that counts.
God looks at a person’s heart.
I’m loving, kind, and forgiving.
I’m fair. I’m saved. I’m smart.
Being moved by Satan’s lies,
I can no longer afford.
For life more abundant,
I choose the awesome report of the Lord!
